Egg Donors

Starting A Family Using Our Donor Egg Program

Gay men have two options when starting a family through our donor egg program: either known or anonymous egg donation.  Our team and professional network will ensure that the necessary information is available so that individuals and couples can make informed decisions.  We also provide guidance and resources to connect gay men with an appropriate egg donor agencyscreened by our team for its selectivity and standards.  The comprehensive screening process for all egg donors includes medical and psychological evaluation and incorporates tests for genetic markers and infectious diseases.  Before moving forward, donors meet with a reproductive attorney.

Egg Donor Screening Overview

Each prospective donor is carefully screened by our team, which includes a consultation with our on-site mental health professional, Lisa Tuttle, PhD and/or our Program Director, Andrea Braverman, PhD.  Drs. Tuttle and Braverman have been working with third-party reproduction patients for over 15 years and are very experienced in evaluating the needs of each of the participants involved in this process.

All egg donor candidates fill out a questionnaire reviewing their medical and family histories and social habits, which are reviewed to determine the donor’s suitability and to ascertain potential risk for significant medical or genetic disorders. Potential donors also undergo various tests to assure good medical health, including a physical exam by one of our physicians or physician assistants, as well as laboratory and genetic testing.
